✨ Job Opportunity: IMEO Data Platform Suite Writer & Editor (Remote)
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a skilled Writer & Editor for the International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO) Data Platform Suite. This fully remote, five-month contract offers a unique opportunity to contribute to global climate action by shaping the narrative around methane emissions data.
As the IMEO Data Platform Writer & Editor, you will:
✅ Create and edit compelling, scientifically rigorous content—case studies, blogs, technical web copy, factsheets, and press releases.
✅ Ensure all content is accurate, audience-focused, and optimized for web search (SEO).
✅ Develop key messages and storytelling strategies to enhance the visibility of IMEO’s methane data tools and resources.
✅ Collaborate across teams to craft engaging narratives that drive transparency, accountability, and action on methane emissions.
✅ Support the Eye on Methane platform—a critical tool launched at COP29 that integrates satellite data, industry reports (OGMP 2.0), scientific studies, and national inventories.
This role is vital in positioning IMEO as a data-driven initiative, promoting actionable insights for governments, companies, and civil society.
🔍 Key Qualifications:

Graduate degree in communications, journalism, or a related field.

Minimum 6 years of professional experience in content strategy, communications, or media—ideally in climate, energy, or data-focused storytelling.

Exceptional writing, editing, and research skills, with the ability to translate complex technical topics into accessible content.

Strong project management abilities, attention to detail, and a proactive approach.
Languages: Fluency in English required; French is an asset.
Compensation: Competitive UN consultancy rate.
